Sailing without wind

Monday, November 5th, 2007

img_3403.JPGThis weekend was lovely. The people on board, mostly women, were very nice and funny and we laughed our heads off. Sometimes it really fits with people you meat and this was one of those times.

Look at the pictures of our sailingweekend, although its mostly about people you don’t know.

There was hardly any wind and therefore we were not really tired afterwards. The weather was good though, we have been outside almost all thetime.

Food was good (captains dinner of course) drinks ok… Nothing more to wish for.

We tried to go to Tholen but because of lack of wind we ended up in Goes. The next day we had lunch near Zierikzee, with the ancor down. That ment we were back in time on Sunday.

Market closed from 10.00 till 10.02

Nieuwe Maen

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

The other day I sold some of the instruments of my boat. I had a new dashboard build and the old  stuf was for sale. I put it on ‘marktplaats’, the Dutch e-bay.

There was one fuelmeter that the owner of the Nieuwe Maen was interested in. And I was interested in his ship so I took the instrument to him instead of the other way around. He is stationed in Zierikzee where a friend of mine lives. Good reason to go there anyway.

And now, after a month of so, I’m invited to sail this weekend with this ship. Isn’t this briljant? I’m so looking forward to this trip. Hopefully there will be enough wind.

Next time the stories and pics will be here.

About cooking

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

img_3398_400×384shkl.JPGThat I’m not much of a cook (It’s hereditary, see the comment of my mother on the cook item) doesn’t mean that there can’t be good cooking in my kitchen! Yesterday evening Philene did a briljant job in proving that. She cooked a fishdish that was of chefsquality.

My job was the groceries so I went to Smit’s, the finest fishstore in Rotterdam. Well known for its quality even outside Rotterdam. I bought coquilles st-Jacques, monkfish, salmon and more. Herbs, fresh green pasta and so on.

And so Phil had all the ingredients she needed. My kitchen loved it, and so did I.

I already promised friends to make enough to invite them another time to taste this delight. So there is more waiting in my freezer.
